i would TRY and put the least experienced horse in first (unless it is the pony; i’ll get to that later); if you get there and fugrie out that he wont back out, it’s easy enough to turn him around. the back stall is usually the biggest, the middle the smallest, and the first is about in the middle. so, i would first base it on size, but if you find that you have a problem with the arrangement, then experiment and switch them around until you find the arrangement that you like the best. its my understanding that the pony isnt all the experienced; is that correct? if thats the case than i would put him in second: you can turn him around if need be, and its the smallest stall. put the horse that loads slow but trailers well in first, and then the big boy (or girl) in last. i always use hay bags in my trailers. i find that if you put them in the corner, they have a sort of padding where if you have to slam on your brakes, your horse is less likely to bang their face up on the window. my horse has a few scars on his face from hitting the inside window ledge when he was first getting used to having to stay balanced in the trailer before we started using hay bags. but if you have the drop down windows that have bars that stay up, you dont have to worry about that, so its your choice.
